Health Insurance Leads
Several boberdoo clients use our system for selling insurance leads. The de facto standard for deliverying insurance leads (as of late 2010) has become ping/post. All of the large insurance lead resellers are using ping/post to handle their lead platforms. Ping/post seems to be the way all lead verticals will eventually flow. From our point of view this move is best for everyone involved. It cuts down on the number of people who have access to the lead's personal information. It reduces the chance of other companies stealing your data. It also allows for the best pricing because most companies not only do ping/post but they are also doing it with dynamic pricing (lead buyers making an offer on each ping instead of having a flat, prearranged price).
When we build a system for a client, we start by determining the exact application that will be sold as a lead and then we discuss with the client which fields on that application should be defined as criteria. For a health insurance lead the criteria would probably by state, insurance type, smoker/no smoker, current problems (yes/no), etc. The important thing to remember when setting criteria is that the more fields you allow lead buyers (health insurance lead buyers for example) to select from, the pickier they will be. There is a happy medium where you will give lead buyers enough criteria to get almost exactly what they want most of the time but not too many criteria so that your marketing for health insurance leads becomes very expensive due to leads not matching with any of the lead buyers.
For health insurance leads you may want to give them the option to select state but not give them the option to select by zip code. Or, maybe you only want to go with a very basic form that has name, address, phone, email, and insurance type. Most lead companies understand that the shorter the form, especially for something like health insurance leads, the easier the leads will flow in. On that same point though, the shorter the lead application, the higher the chance of that lead being bad. The bottom line though is that this is a business decision you will make and the boberdoo system will work regardless of if you choose 10 fields or 50.
