ESP Failures

Did your ESP fail to send? Because the ESP(s) you are sending with are 3rd party applications, we don't know for certain why your ESP failed. However, this page covers the most common reasons each ESP fails. Find your ESP below.

Amazon SES

Unverified From Line 

The most common reason that Amazon SES fails to send is an unverified from email address. To check if your From Line is verified, go to Creatives>From Line and click the Show From Line Status tool. If your from line is not verified for your Amazon SES account, click the Revalidate From Email button. This will send a verification email to the from address. Click the link in the email to verify your From Line.

Invalid Credentials

If your Amazon SES credentials were manually changed or entered incorrectly, your account will fail to send. To check your Amazon SES credentials, go to the Setup page in Marketing Automation and edit your Amazon SES ESP. From here you can check to verify that the Access Key ID, Secret Access Key and Region match those in your AWS account.

Account Suspended

Your Amazon SES account may have been shut down due to a poor reputation. Log in to your Amazon SES account directly to investigate.

Send Grid

Invalid Credentials

If your Sendgrid credentials were manually changed or entered incorrectly, your account will fail to send. To check your Sendgrid credentials, go to the Setup page in Marketing Automation and edit your Sendgrid ESP. From here you can check to verify that the API Key matches the API key generated in your Sendgrid account.

Account Suspended

Your Sendgrid account may have been shut down due to a poor reputation. Log in to your Sendgrid account directly to investigate.

Mandrill

Unverified Sending Domain

In order to send emails via Mandrill (even from their free tier), you must first verify a sending domain. To check if your sending domain is verified, go to Settings>Domains in your Mandrill account. To verify your domain, you must follow Mandrill's instructions for setting the DKIM and SPF settings for your domain.

Invalid Credentials

If your Sendgrid credentials were manually changed or entered incorrectly, your account will fail to send. To check your Sendgrid credentials, go to the Setup page in Marketing Automation and edit your Sendgrid ESP. From here you can check to verify that the API Key matches the API key generated in your Sendgrid account.

Account Suspended

Your Mandrill account may have been shut down due to a poor reputation. Log in to your Mandrill account directly to investigate.

Mailgun

Invalid Credentials

If your Mailgun credentials were manually changed or entered incorrectly, your account will fail to send. To check your Mailgun credentials, go to the Setup page in Marketing Automation and edit your Mailgun ESP. From here you can check to verify that the API URL and API Key match the credentials in your Mailgun account.

Account Suspended

Mailjet

Unverified From Line

To send emails via Mailjet, you must first add each of your From Lines in Marketing Automation as Sender Addresses in your Mailjet account. To add a Sender Address or check if your From Lines are listed as Sender Addresses, access your Mailjet dashboard and click Edit Sender addresses from the Quick setup menu. From here you can see a list of all email address that are elligable to send through Mailjet as well as a link to Add New Sender Addresses.

Invalid Credentials

If your Mailjet credentials were manually changed or entered incorrectly, your account will fail to send. To check your Mailjet credentials, go to the Setup page in Marketing Automation and edit your Mailjet ESP. From here you can check to verify that the API Key and API Secret match the credentials generated in your Mailjet account.

Account Suspended

Your Mailjet account may have been shut down due to a poor reputation. Log in to your Mailjet account directly to investigate.

Sparkpost

Unverified Sending Domain

In order to send emails via Sparkpost (even from their free tier), you must first verify a sending domain and only send emails using a From Email Address of the verified domain. To check if your sending domain is verified, go to Account>Sending Domains in your Sparkpost account. To verify your domain, you must use 1 of the 4 verification methods listed for the domain you wish to use. To check your Sparkpost credentials, go to the Setup page in Marketing Automation and edit your Sparkpost ESP. From here you can check to verify that the API Key matches the API key generated in your Sparkpost account.

Custom SMTP

Incorrect Username/Password

If your email and password have changed or were not entered correctly when integrating your Custom SMTP with Marketing Automation, your emails will fail to send. From your Marketing Automation system, go to the Setup tab and edit your Custom SMTP to verify your Username and Password.
