Using the Blank (Code Your Own) Template

The Blank – Code Your Own template works as a basic HTML editor. This allows you to plug any HTML code into the editor to build your email. Because this template is a blank HTML editor, your email will not include the footer information and unsubscribe links that are required in all marketing emails. You will need to manually add these elements. See instructions below.

1. Add Plain Text (Optional)

In Step 2 (Add Body Info), you have the option to add plain text to your email. Any recipient that cannot receive HTML emails will receive the text you include in this box. It is an email marketing best practice to copy the text and links in your email and paste it here.

2. Add Footer Information

When building your email, make sure to include the following information at the bottom of your email:

  • Company Name
  • Address
  • City
  • Zip/Postal Code
  • Country
  • State
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number

3. Add Unsubscribe Links

Finally, and most importantly, you need to manually add your unsubscribe links. To do so, add your unsubscribe text to the bottom of your email. Next, select your unsubscribe text and use the link tool in the HTML editor. In the link editor tool, locate the protocol dropdown and select other. Finally, copy the {UNSUBSCRIBE_CAMPAIGN} or the {UNSUBSCRIBE_COMPLETE} magic string from the menu on the right side and paste the string into the URL box of the link editor. You can use either or both of these magic strings, but we recommend using the {UNSUBSCRIBE_COMPLETE} option.
