We have addressed this many times over the years, but it is probably worth explaining again.
I recently used AI to examine a large batch of boberdoo sales call transcripts. These are people that had set up a demo call with us. We use Fathom or Google to transcribe some sales calls. I asked AI, Gemini in this case, since we use Google internally, some specific questions like what are the 10 most frequently asked questions and, more specifically, what are the 10 most frequently asked questions about using boberdoo for call routing. I am not aware of any other company that allows their customers to use their own Twilio accounts, so there were certainly some questions and confusion around that topic. Lots of questions were specific around features, pricing, options, ping post for calls, etc. Definitely a worthwhile exercise that will help us answer questions a little better. Unfortunately, some people were just not good prospects.
Many prospects were just looking to buy leads (and did not need a system for handling it). Does boberdoo sell leads? Is boberdoo a network? Will boberdoo buy the unused leads? Quite a few questions like these that focused on features or services we do not actually have or offer. Sounds like more of an opportunity for boberdoo than an issue right? Maybe for some people, but not for me.
I want every boberdoo employee to focus on helping our clients succeed. My brain just cannot wrap itself around the idea of how the conflicts of interest involved in selling leads, while also supporting people you are now competing against, are a net positive for both boberdoo and boberdoo’s clients. There are many things a person simply cannot “unsee” such as vendors, volume, pricing, margins, lead buyers, sales staff, refunds, coverage, outside service provider settings……you know, the stuff that makes one company different from another. There is a clear conflict of interest, and I just do not like it, so we will not do it.
This article is not directed at any one event, competitor or ongoing issue in the lead generation world, but rather a response to those that ask why we do not in fact offer a network.
